The "High Five" Drill with Target Elements™

Target Elements™ - Born on the range.

Get proper training before attempting this drill. The safe execution of this or any other drill is dependent on the shooter as well as the range conditions. Verify and double check safety before firing in ALL cases.

The drills to this point have been moderate round count, at ManAloneTactical we try to keep training affordable. That being said, we are going to move into a higher round count drill. Why? First of all, to break the pattern of firing a couple of rounds then stopping, secondly you do not determine when the gunfight is over (unless you give up or die) and you need to know how you and your gear perform under more trying conditions.

Affix five Elements to your target. If silhouette or torso put one on the chest vital zone and one on the head. Place the remaining three as far apart as you can on off body locations on the target. Load at least three high capacity mags to fifteen.

From the ready, put one round on each Element. Tactical reload retaining the magazine. Once each magazine is down to ten, start back with the first one firing five rounds and proceed. Make sure that you rotate mags properly to have each one in the pistol three times. Do this wrong and draw a DQ. Hopefully you have a buddy monitoring you! Set a baseline of time and track your improvement, monitor your accuracy as well. Do not work any faster than you can work safely and accurately.

Options:
Creating longer shots in this drill is good.

If you are a carbine shooter this is a great drill to do transition drills and alternate the carbine throughout doubling the round count in the drill and the complexity of magazine retention/selection.

If properly trained in the manipulations, fire the last segment one handed.
